Shaker Child’s Chest

The Shaker Child’s Chest incorporates a simple design — characteristic of its Shaker roots — with solid hardwood custom construction to create an ideal chest for your child’s room.

The four drawers provide lots storage space. Plus, the drawers open full extension. So both big and small hands can have easy access to every corner of each drawer. No more yanking clothes out in order to see what’s at the back of the drawers. As is the case with drawers that open partway.

Also, we made the drawer boxes with 5/8-inch-thick solid hardwood, with a dovetail joint at each upright corner. So they’re strong and durable. Also, the wood at the top of each drawer is rounded off. So its gentle on little hands and arms. What’s more, you can request Blum under-mount slides. They make closing a drawer as simple as giving it a gentle push.

Skilled Amish cabinetmakers painstakingly handcraft each Shaker Child’s Chest. And they use solid hardwoods like maple, elm, hickory and oak. The Amish men even finished the bottom with 1/2-inch solid hardwood. No wonder the chest is so tough, it should serve several generations of kids. You can order the chest as shown or unfinished. And we can customize it to your specs.
