Why Choose Brandenberry Furniture Store?
First of all, Brandenberry Furniture Store is the second Amish furniture store owned and operated by LeRoy and Ida Weaver. Brandenberry is located in Shipshewana, Indiana as well. How did they chose the name you might ask? Well, LeRoy and Ida Weaver’s eight children grew up playing in Brandenberry Creek on the family dairy farm. Therefore making Brandenberry Furniture the natural choice!
Furthermore, Brandenberry Furniture store is a family affair. LeRoy and Ida operate the store with the help of their family. The majority of their eight boys and girls help operate Brandenberry, in one form or another. Finally, here is another interesting fact about Brandenberry Furniture. Amish Made Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana
Comments Off on Amish Made Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana
Amish furniture has garnered a reputation for great quality. And rightfully so. Because the Amish people are renown for their hard work, discipline, and integrity. And they approach the furniture craft with the same ethic as they do life. That’s why Amish Made Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana, has become famous for its detailed craftsmanship and practicality.
Amish Made Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana
Located in Northern Indiana, Shipshewana is home to a small population of Amish. And the Amish people have been living here for the past two centuries. Plus, many of the furniture craftsmen learned the trade from their father and grandfather. And they, in turn, learned the trade from their ancestors.
Traditional Skills and Modern Technologies
The Amish people adhere to the pious Anabaptist faith. It’s a branch of Christianity which has its roots in the Protestant Reformation of the 16th Century. Like their ancestors, the present-day Amish people eschew ‘modern-day’ conveniences. And these include driving cars or having electricity in their homes. But Amish shops get around this by powering their tools with diesel compressors. As a result, Amish furniture represents the ultimate in cabinetmaking excellence, combined with the efficiencies and precision of modern woodworking machines.
Solid hardwood construction
Another hallmark of Amish cabinetmaking is the use of solid hardwoods. In fact, Amish cabinetmakers use hardwoods like oak, maple, cherry, and hickory. Also, they use more difficult — but sturdier — techniques, like dovetail and mortise and tenon joints. What’s more, the Amish men avoid bargain substitutes like particleboard and veneers, brads and staples. These elements are common in chain-store furniture.
Wide range of styles
Amish-made furniture generally features recognizable styles. They include Shaker, Mission, Traditional and Rustic designs. These classically Amish designs feature a timeless beauty that accents any home.

Don’t Have a Truck? Brandenberry’s Shipping Policy
Comments Off on Don’t Have a Truck? Brandenberry’s Shipping Policy
So you’ve ordered your fabulous solid hardwood, Amish-crafted furniture from Brandenberry Amish Furniture. How do your treasured pieces arrive at your house? Of course, you can pick everything up at Brandenberry’s ‘brick and mortar’ store in Shipshewana, Indiana. You would potentially save some money on shipping costs. Or, you can arrange for Brandenberry to ship your furniture to you. Don’t Have a Truck? Brandenberry’s Shipping Policy explains your options.
Don’t Have a Truck? Brandenberry’s Shipping Policy
After your new furniture order is finished, packaging and shipping take about three weeks. Your shipping charges depend on three components. They are the size of your furniture order, the number of miles to the delivery destination and the type of delivery service you choose. Also, your options include curbside or in-home delivery with setup.
Curbside Delivery
Via Common Carrier. Do you live outside of Brandenberry’s 200-mile delivery radius? Then the company will ship your furniture via common carriers, such as Yellow Freight or Roadway. Once the furniture arrives at the carrier’s destination terminal closest to you, a PackShipUSA representative will call you to schedule the delivery.
Your furniture will arrive by truck. However, you, or someone you designate, must be present to assist the delivery driver with unloading. Also, curbside delivery means just that. You’re responsible to transfer the furniture to the inside of your home. So this is where being on good terms with your bodybuilding neighbor comes in handy.
Via Brandenberry Furniture Delivery Team. Do you live within a 200-mile radius of Brandenberry? In this case, the company’s in-house delivery team will take your furniture to your house. As with common carrier deliveries, the Brandenberry driver will call you to schedule a delivery time. You must be present. Or you must have someone present to assist the driver with unloading. Is your new furniture large and bulky? Then, you may need to recruit several helpers. (And have pizza ready.)
Curbside Delivery Plus In-Home Setup
Via Common Carrier. With Curbside Delivery Plus In-Home Setup, the shipment via common carrier is the same as Curbside Delivery described above. However, in this case, the driver plus an assistant make the delivery. Also, the two men will carry your furniture to the room(s) you requested. In addition, they will set up your furniture as needed.
The delivery time for Curbside Delivery with In Home Setup is 14-21 business days. This delivery method is more expensive than Curbside Delivery.
Via Brandenberry Furniture Delivery Team. This delivery method is similar to the Brandenberry Delivery Team process discussed above. However, at least two people make the delivery. The delivery team carries the furniture to the requested room(s) and does the setup.
More Shipping Information Available Online

My Mom-and-Pop Shops vs Chain Retailers Quest

My Mom-and-Pop Shops vs Chain Retailers Quest
Anyone searching for a nice piece of home furniture probably weighed the question of where to find it. And when I searched for a TV stand, I encountered the same question: Where should I go? Should I visit a ‘mom-and-pop’ shop or a large chain retailer? So I hit the streets in my mom-and-pop shops versus chain retailers quest.
My mission was clear. I wanted to browse a variety of furniture retailers. And I wanted to find out the quality, price, customization and sales help. In one day, I perused three chain retailers. And I concluded that each was essentially identical to the other in every category. The quality was fair to good. Prices were generally affordable. Plus, the sales staff was helpful and friendly, and the customization was non-existent.
About a month later, I visited the Amish country in the heart of Northern Indiana. And I made my way to a family-owned and operated shop. It had an old converted barn as a showroom and a stunning selection of wood furnishings. The prices were reasonable. And, the quality was superb. Plus, custom options abounded. In fact, I discovered that I could design entire pieces from scratch to my needs and specifications!
I was struck by this unassuming Amish-owned retailer. Also, once again, I considered my quest to find the perfect TV stand. Was I looking for a quick fix? A chain store could help me there. Or was I looking for a piece to take pride in and hold on to for another generation? I think I found my answer!
So, my mom-and-pop shops versus chain retailers quest was a success.

Shipshewana Amish Furniture Store Closed January 6, 2010
Brandenberry Furniture, a Shipshewana Amish Furniture store specializing in custom-crafted wood furniture in the heart of Indiana’s Amish Country will be closed January 6th as owners LeRoy and Ida Weaver celebrate “Old Christmas”. The Amish refer to Epiphany as Old Christmas. This is a day to pause and remember the birth of baby Jesus on the twelfth day of Christmas.
LeRoy and Ida grew up and still reside in the northern Indiana Amish community of Shipshewana. Here the traditions and celebrations for Old Christmas vary slightly but the holiday is still a day of rest. Therefore businesses close for the day. Old Christmas starts with a period of fasting in the morning. Many Amish families will get together later in the afternoon to celebrate their family Christmas. This includes a large amount of food, candy, and games.
The day the Wise Men visited baby Jesus in the manger is refereed to as Epiphany. Learn more about the history of Epiphany and various traditions and celebrations here.
